This Christian Film, The Forge (2024), Will Challenge Everything You Know!

As a Christian, I’m always on the lookout for films that not only entertain but also inspire and challenge me to live out my faith more fully. "The Forge" (2024) is one of those rare gems that does just that. the film weaves together a narrative that not only captivates the audience but also serves as a powerful reminder of Jesus’ Great Commission in Matthew 28. This movie does more than entertain—it challenges, inspires, and calls viewers back to the heart of the Christian Discipleship, through action!

A Story of Redemption

"The Forge" tells the story of Joshua, a corporate executive and devoted Christian, who mentors Isaiah, a high school graduate struggling to find his path. Isaiah’s journey into adulthood is complicated by his absent father and a single mother, Cynthia—played by Priscilla Shirer—who remains supportive and optimistic despite the challenges her son faces.

Living Out the Great Commission

One of the most profound aspects of "The Forge" is how it connects personal redemption with the broader call of Matthew 28:18-20:

"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"

Watching this transformation unfold, I was reminded that we are all called to be disciples and to make disciples. The character’s journey showed me that God uses our stories, even the messy parts, to reach others. It challenged me to think about how I’m living out the Great Commission in my own life—not just in words, but through actions that reflect God’s love.

The Importance of Community and Fellowship

Another key theme in the movie is the power of community. The main character’s transformation doesn’t happen in isolation; it’s deeply tied to the relationships he builds along the way. The people around him—strangers at first—become a source of support, encouragement, and accountability. Together, they work not only to restore the forge but also to rebuild their lives.

This portrayal of community reminded me of the importance of Christian fellowship. Priscilla Shirer says

"It's important because it is a clear representation of what mentorship can do in the life of a young person -- discipleship, really walking with someone, helping them to come to maturity," Shirer said. "So, to see that demonstrated on film will really remind people about the importance of doing it in their own lives."

The movie beautifully captures this essence. Watching the characters come together, I was reminded of the times when my own faith has been strengthened by the people God has placed around me. It’s a powerful reminder that we are not meant to walk this journey alone; we need each other to grow, to heal, and to carry out the work God has called us to do.

Forging Ahead in Faith

The film's tagline is

"Whoever Wants the Next Generation the Most Will Get Them."

Discipleship can be difficult. It involves building relationships, requires time, and demands intentional effort—things we often hesitate to invest in. This movie captures that essence through a story of a man who steps outside his comfort zone to support someone else. It’s a powerful reminder of what we need more of in our churches and homes: genuine connections and a willingness to help others.

Sacrifice and Selflessness

One of the most powerful moments in the film is when the main character is faced with a choice that requires him to make a personal sacrifice. This act of selflessness is a turning point, not only for him but for everyone around him. It’s a moment that reflects the heart of Christian love—the kind of love that puts others first, just as Jesus did for us.

Philippians 2:3-4 perfectly encapsulates this theme:

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."

This part of the movie challenged me to think about my own life and how often I choose comfort over sacrifice. It reminded me that following Jesus means laying down my own desires for the sake of others. It’s a call to love sacrificially, to give generously, and to serve selflessly, just as Christ did for us.

Conclusion: Video Review

"The Forge" is more than just a film—it’s a powerful reminder of the transformative power of the Gospel and the necessity of Discipleship. It challenged me to reflect on my own walk with God and to consider how I am living out His calling in my life and how that faith is helping others. The main character’s journey of redemption, community, and purpose is a testament to the fact that God is always at work, shaping us into who He has called us to be.

The film’s message is clear: no matter our past, God can use us for His glory. We are called to live out the Great Commission, to build each other up in community, and to put our faith into action. Watching "The Forge," I was reminded that our lives are like metal in the hands of a skilled blacksmith—God uses every trial, every failure, and every victory to mold us into His image.
