“Where do you see yourself in five years?”
It’s a question we’ve all heard — in interviews, classrooms, or conversations with friends. It forces us to dream, to evaluate, and to envision a version of ourselves somewhere in the future. But for the follower of Christ, this question isn’t just about our next promotion or accomplishment. It’s about our position in Christ, our growth in faith, and our impact on the Kingdom.
We challenge you today — not just to dream about where you’ll live, what you’ll drive, or what your career might be…But who will you be in Christ five years from now?
The World’s Vision vs. God’s Vision
Most five-year plans revolve around worldly success:
“I want to be financially secure.”
“I want to own a home.”
“I want to start my own business.”
“I want to retire early.”
These aren’t bad goals. But if your five-year vision is completely absent of spiritual direction, you’ve planned a future that may be impressive to man — and irrelevant to God.
“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”— Mark 8:36
God's plan for your life includes peace, joy, and yes, provision — but more than anything, His desire is that you become more like Jesus. That you grow in the knowledge of truth, walk in authenticity, and advance His Kingdom.
So — where will you be spiritually in five years?
1. Will You Be Spiritually Stronger?
Let’s be honest: many of us know what it feels like to be stagnant in our faith. We get busy, distracted, or discouraged. One day turns into one year. Prayer feels distant. The Bible collects dust. Church becomes routine.
But what if five years from now, your prayer life was powerful, your Bible was worn from use, and your faith was unshakable?
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”— 2 Peter 3:18
Spiritual maturity doesn’t happen by chance — it happens by daily surrender. Through discipleship. Through accountability. Through surrounding yourself with people who won’t let you settle for shallow faith.
That’s where WOTEM comes in. We’re here to help you go deeper — through real relationships, Bible-centered teaching, and Christ-focused resources.
2. Will You Be Making Disciples or Sitting on the Sidelines?
Jesus gave us a mission before He left this earth:
“Go and make disciples of all nations...” (Matthew 28:19)
It wasn’t optional. It wasn’t just for pastors. It was a call for every believer.
Yet many Christians sit on the sidelines — paralyzed by fear, distracted by comfort, or unsure where to start.
In five years, will someone know Jesus because of your obedience today?
Will someone be walking in freedom because you said “yes” to making disciples?
Discipleship doesn’t require perfection. It requires willingness. It starts with a simple “How can I walk with you?” — and it grows into transformation.
At WOTEM, we equip you to disciple with confidence — using tools like our New Life Discipleship Workbooks, online Bible studies, and personal support to help you walk with others as they follow Christ.
3. Will You Be Living Authentically for Christ?
We live in a world obsessed with image — social media filters, curated lives, and public applause. But God is calling His people to be authentic, not aesthetic.
Authentic faith means:
Choosing integrity over convenience
Praying behind closed doors
Refusing to compromise your convictions
Living like Jesus matters — even when no one’s watching
In five years, will your life reflect a stronger, deeper relationship with Jesus? Will your decisions, your relationships, and your lifestyle point others to Him?
A Real Moment: “I Didn’t Have an Answer”
This question became real in a conversation one of our co-founders, Valyncia Jefferson, had with her mother. She was sharing how she felt God calling her to do more — to move out on her own, to travel, and to share the Gospel around the world. Her mother listened carefully and then asked:
“Do you ever think about where you’ll be in five years?”
She paused.
“I didn’t have an answer,” Valyncia said. “I had dreams, I had desires, and I knew what I felt God was calling me to do — but I hadn’t thought that far ahead. It made me realize… I need to think more intentionally about what I’m saying yes to spiritually.”
Maybe you feel the same way. You know you’ve been called. You sense God leading you to do more. But you haven’t stopped to think about what that really looks like down the road.
Let this be your wake-up call — not in fear, but in faith.
